    • •Your dental team will show you the proper cleaning technique
    • •Professional cleanings every 3-4 months are recommended long-term

All-on-4 / Full Arch Implant recovery, day by day

    Day 0-1 (Surgery Day)

    Immediate Post-Op

    • Bite gently on gauze for 30-60 minutes to control bleeding
    • Apply ice packs continuously (20 on, 20 off) for the first 48 hours
    • Keep your head elevated, even while sleeping
    • Expect significant swelling that peaks around days 2-3

    Temporary Prosthesis Care

    • Your temporary teeth (prosthesis) were placed today. Do NOT remove them
    • The temporary prosthesis protects the implants while they integrate
    • Avoid touching, wiggling, or pressing on the prosthesis with your tongue
    • Some slight movement of the temporary is normal initially

    Diet

    • LIQUID DIET ONLY for the first 2 weeks: protein shakes, broth, smoothies
    • Nothing hot. Cool or room temperature liquids only for 48 hours
    • Use a spoon, not a straw, for the first week
    • Adequate protein intake is critical for healing
    Days 2-27 (Acute Recovery)

    Swelling & Bruising

    • Peak swelling is days 2-4. Bruising may spread to neck and chin
    • Continue ice therapy for 48-72 hours
    • Warm moist compresses can help after day 3
    • Sleep propped up on 2-3 pillows for the first week

    Oral Hygiene

    • Do NOT brush the surgical areas for the first week
    • Gently rinse with prescribed antimicrobial mouthwash after meals
    • Use the irrigating syringe if provided, on the lowest pressure setting
    • Keep the rest of your mouth clean with gentle brushing
    Days 28-72 (Soft Diet Phase)

    Diet Progression

    • Transition to soft foods: scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes, yogurt, fish
    • Cut food into very small pieces and chew carefully on both sides
    • Avoid anything hard, crunchy, chewy, or sticky
    • Continue protein shakes to supplement nutrition

    Healing Progress

    • Implant sites should be much less tender
    • Stitches will dissolve or be removed around days 10-14
    • Continue excellent oral hygiene with gentle brushing around prosthesis
    • Attend all scheduled follow-up appointments
    Days 73-125 (Integration Phase)

    Osseointegration

    • The implants are fusing with your jawbone during this phase
    • Gradually introduce firmer soft foods as comfort allows
    • Still avoid hard, crunchy foods (nuts, raw carrots, hard bread)
    • The temporary prosthesis will be checked and adjusted as needed

    Activity

    • Can resume most normal activities
    • Avoid contact sports or activities that risk facial impact
    • Continue to avoid extremely hard or chewy foods
    Days 126-180 (Final Phase)

    Toward Final Prosthesis

    • Your permanent prosthesis will be fabricated and placed after full integration (typically 3-6 months)
    • Continue regular follow-up visits
    • Maintain daily cleaning under and around the prosthesis
    • Long-term success depends on consistent oral hygiene and regular check-ups
