    What to expect

    Protecting Your Veneers

    • •Veneers are strong but not indestructible
    • •Avoid using teeth as tools
    • •Wear a mouthguard during contact sports

    Veneer recovery, day by day

    Day 0 (Veneer Placement)

    Temporary Veneers (if applicable)

    • If temporary veneers were placed, avoid sticky and hard foods
    • Temporaries may feel rough or slightly different; this is normal
    • If a temporary comes off, save it and call us

    Permanent Veneers

    • Sensitivity to hot and cold is normal for 1-2 weeks
    • Your bite should feel natural; if it feels high, call for an adjustment
    • Gums may be tender from the placement process
    Day 1-7

    Care Instructions

    • Brush normally with a non-abrasive toothpaste
    • Floss gently, pulling the floss out to the side (not snapping up)
    • Avoid biting directly into hard foods: apples, carrots, crusty bread (cut them first)
    • No biting fingernails, pens, or opening packages with teeth
    Day 8-14

    Long-Term

    • Sensitivity should fully resolve
    • Veneers can last 10-15 years with good care
    • Wear a night guard if you grind your teeth (grinding can crack veneers)

When to call your provider or 911

    • •Veneer cracks, chips, or falls off
    • •Severe sensitivity that worsens
    • •Bite feels significantly uneven
    • •Gum swelling or infection around the veneer

When in doubt, call your clinic. For a medical emergency, call 911.
