What to expect
When results appear and how long they last
- •You will start to see smoothing in 3 to 7 days, with the full effect at about 2 weeks.
- •Results typically last about 3 to 4 months, then gradually fade.
Reduce bruising
- •Use acetaminophen (Tylenol) rather than ibuprofen or aspirin.
- •Avoid alcohol for 24 hours.
- •Arnica may help some people.
Xeomin recovery, day by day
First 4 hours
- Stay upright. Do not lie down or bend over for 3 to 4 hours.
- Do NOT rub, massage, or press the treated areas for 24 hours. Pressure can move the product to nearby muscles.
- Avoid anything that presses on the area, like tight hats, goggles, or a face-down massage.
Rest of the day
- Skip strenuous exercise, saunas, hot tubs, and tanning for the rest of the day.
- No alcohol today (it increases bruising).
- Avoid facials, microdermabrasion, or other face treatments for 24 hours.
- You can gently return to normal, upright daily activities.
What is normal
- Tiny bumps or redness at the injection points usually fade within a few hours.
- A little bruising or a mild headache can happen and passes on its own.
- You will not see results yet. That is expected.
Results appear
- Smoothing usually begins in 3 to 7 days.
- The full effect takes up to 10 to 14 days.
- Wait until the 2-week mark to judge your result or book a touch-up assessment.
When to call your provider or 911
- •Drooping of an eyelid or eyebrow (usually temporary. Tell your provider).
- •Trouble swallowing, speaking, or breathing. This is rare. Seek emergency care and call 911.
- •Muscle weakness that spreads beyond the treated area.
- •Worsening redness, warmth, or pus at an injection site (possible infection).
- •Signs of an allergic reaction: hives, swelling of the face or throat, or trouble breathing. Call 911.
When in doubt, call your clinic. For a medical emergency, call 911.
