Activity

Incision Care
- Keep chest incision clean and dry
- No baths, hot tubs, or swimming for 4-6 weeks
- Wear a supportive bra (women) to reduce tension on incision
Activity
- Short walks, gradually increasing distance
- Use a pillow against your chest when coughing or laughing
- No lifting over 5 lbs for 6-8 weeks
- No driving for 4-6 weeks
Cardiac Rehab
- Begin cardiac rehabilitation program as prescribed
- Follow the exercise plan provided by your rehab team
- Monitor your heart rate during activity
Lifestyle
- Follow heart-healthy diet as discussed
- Take all cardiac medications on schedule
- Attend all follow-up appointments and labs
Ongoing Recovery
- Continue cardiac rehab and exercise program
- Report any new symptoms to your cardiologist
- Gradually return to normal activities as cleared

- •Chest pain or pressure
- •Sudden shortness of breath
- •Irregular or rapid heartbeat
- •Dizziness or fainting
- •Fever above 101°F
- •Redness, drainage, or opening of chest incision
- •Sudden weakness or numbness on one side of the body
